Plots: How are you covering your seeds?
After bed preparation and broadcasting what is your method to cover seeds?
Tied some tractor chains together and used as a drag this spring.
Did great on larger seeds like buck wheat but left something to be desired with smaller seeds.
How are you doing it?
Thanks in advance. It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

Re: Plots: How are you covering your seeds?
My buddy has a little disker he attaches to his ATV and he adjusts the height so that after broadcasting it just covers the seeds. In the past, before we had the disker, we would drag around a pallet that had attached to the ATV. Also the wheels of the ATV work about as good as a cultipacker.
On smaller plots in the past I would use a hand rake. I would also do my best to wait to broadcast seed as close to a forecasted rain as possible.

A drag harrow works nicely. I do about 4 acres every four or five years and it works nicely towed behind the side by side or ATV.

Cultipacker on hay small seed: it gets good seed to dirt contact all around, and helps hold in soil moisture and prevent soil runoff.
