Default Buying a Firearm From Out of State

OK, I have found a suitable purchase for a pistol from an FFL out of state. I know how most of it works but how is payment usually handled? I mean when do I send him the money, before he ships it or after I inspect it at my FFL?

    Thanks for the help.

I can't imagine many are going to be willing to ship without being paid.

You send $ to seller. Seller ships to FFL. You pick it up, and fill out the paperwork, and pay whatever the transfer cost is.

I didn't quote them but I agree with the two responses, just wanted to be sure. I thought I heard of a case where the money got paid when the gun was inspected at the receiving FFL's but didn't think that was the way to go.

Inspect the firearm before your FFL fills out the paperwork.

Definitely this. Most sellers will consider your return rights void once you transfer the gun to yourself, so inspect thoroughly before filling everything out.

Thanks for the input. Usually when I buy from afar it's on fleabay and they and PayPal back the purchases up so this one is new to me.
