Suspect took off from the counter with a .40 handgun and ammo after asking to inspect it. Manager intercepted him and detained him until police arrived. Suspect was already wanted for a theft earlier that day from a Gun shop.

Academy says they fired the manager because the store policy does not permit staff to touch customers in any way.

When you try to flee from a firearms counter with a firearm and ammo,,,, you are no longer a customer.

This guy is lucky he didn't get shot when he robbed the gun shop earlier that day. Lots of stories about idiots getting shot doing just that.

I'm guessing staff is not allowed to carry while working the gun counter? Would shooting the suspect count as "touching"? Sorry, just me, but I'd never work anywhere that involves sales of firearms if I couldn't carry.

Academy will no longer get any of my future business.
