    Default suppressed m1a

paperwork came through on the omega i was waiting on.
it's the first can that i plan to mount on multiple hosts...one being an old m1a socom2.
did my homework months ago. the socoms use a one off gas cylinder lock that has the front sight and muzzle device all in one.
picked up a gas cylinder lock that:
    A. allows the use of regular m1a front sights
    B. has 5/8" muzzle threads
found a gas plug that has gas adjustments.
yesterday evening i was able to get to the range.
this thing has a 16" barrel and can light cigars at 8' with a robust report to say the least.
it's now hearing safe....with a stiff load pushing 168grn slugs. i have the gas turned out enough that it doesn't cycle without the can in place. might even load some sub-sonics for it.
this round was strictly a function check. i'll play around some this weekend to see how it shoots paper.

Very nice! I see you have the breach shield to deal w/the gas and the short "socom" length schuster. I'm running the same exact items on my scout squad. How much does the gas bother you? Some M14/M1A fanatics don't take to suppressing them due to the complaint of gas in the face. To me it's not really that bad. I'm running an AAC 762-SD on mine.

the breach shield is a must. tried a few rounds without it, the face gas could probably take a hat off your head. with it i didn't really notice any.

Nice set up. You dont see enough M1a's with cans. Seems people dont want to take the extra effort in parts to make it happen.
    Photo above doesn't count lol

I agree. Even with the shield, I try to not inhale shortly after I fire a round. I shoot lefty, but switch over when I shoot my M1A.

Accuracy with a m1 a involves quite a bit of voodoo.
Hanging weight on the end of the barrel is another factor that would leave you with years of testing and load development to achieve accuracy.
