Default Gun Laws By State Guide

Found a guide that looks very helpful. Always verify these guides before making the trip though!

    https://www.gunstocarry.com/gun-laws...32a36863ea0e9b

Gun laws in the US vary considerably between states. The majority of legislation relating to guns is enacted at the state level and these laws are independent of Federal firearms laws. This has resulted in a broad variation of gun laws in all the US states with each state taking a different approach on issues such as permits, carry laws, sales, and self-defense laws.

In some states the firearms laws can be much less restrictive than federal laws. However, individuals are not exempt from federal laws just because the state laws are less restrictive. In most cases it is left to the discretion of local law enforcement as to whether they will enforce federal laws. The Supreme court has ruled in Printz v United States that local law enforcement are not obligated to enforce federal firearms laws.

Thanks for posting this. This site is very easy to understand.

If I understand this right, it looks like Delaware only honors Florida residents' licences, not non-residents.

I'm looking to get a non-resident license in a state that Delaware will recognize. I guess I should consider Arizona.

I like the state pages with stats. Get to them with the State Gun Laws drop-down menu on the top.

    https://www.gunstocarry.com/gun-laws...ania-gun-laws/

1,275,000 LTCF holders in PA, 12% of the population.

Compare that to Texas with 1,200,746 holders but that's only 6% of their population.

Florida has 1,784,395 holders but I'd bet the majority are out-of-staters because of their reciprocal benefits.

Washington D.C. has only 124 TOTAL active licenses!

    PA honors 28 states' licenses.

    FL honors 35.

    NY honors 1. (their own)

    NJ honors 0.

    CA honors 0.

Check out UTAH, says it honors 53 licenses. I know D.C. counts...wonder what the other extras are.

Delaware honors 20 states, in blue on the map, not including PA:

For Android users (probably iPhone too), there's an app called CCW that they update frequently. Last update was 7/6. I like that you can enter your permits, and it will give you a map of all the states you can carry in. You can click on a state and get all the relevant laws.

That website has too many things incorrect about PA.

    Use Gary Slider's site - http://www.handgunlaw.us

@alpacaheat yup. Too bad they don't honor PA. That would solve my whole problem.

I assume it's because we don't require you to complete a class before you are eligible for the LTCF.

It's too bad. South Eastern PA is surrounded by states that don't honor our license to carry.

That's why I said verify ANY resource you consult with before traveling.

I like the way the info is presented on this one though and there's a lot that is accurate also.
