Story time I guess. A few years ago my wife and I were shooting my Makarov and her Taurus 380 revolver behind the trailer we were renting. We had permission from the landlord to shoot when we wanted. Well while I was shooting the mak my wife was standing off to my left and a few behind me. A round ended up ricocheting back at us and it hit her in the stomach. Luckily for both of us it didn't have enough energy to do anything but bounce off her stomach and fall to the ground. We never shot there again and she kept the slightly deformed bullet.

What did it ricochet off of?

I've done it once. If nobody gets hurt I think it always ends up being a good experience. I know I am way more diligent after screwing up.

    Good thing it wasn't a .45.
You would have shot a hole through the entire internet and sucked all of us into the vortex.

Brain farts. This is why Jeff Cooper's rules should be followed obsessively. Why you should clear the gun that someone else just cleared and then handed to you. Why you should dryfire in a room with no ammo at all, and against a safe backdrop. Why you should clear a gun by racking the slide, then looking into the mag well and chamber, and then checking by feeling with your finger. Why you should never play show-and-tell with the gun you're carrying. I doubt many people do every one of these things 100% of the time, but we should, because brain farts are universal, and anyone who thinks they're immune to brain farts is full of it.

Talk about a sticky key, that’s no way to fix it. Glad no one got nothing but self esteem hurt.

It's a great idea and easy to do science a 5 gallon Lowe's bucket filled with playground sand is all you need.

Do you shoot through a lid to keep the sand under control?
