Re: Had a ND today.
Ditto on the bucket/barrel of sand.
My situation might be different, I live rural with my own range. I don't keep loaded guns in the house. I keep loaded magazines near weapons for home defense. When I shoot at my range, after shooting each individual weapon, I dump mags and clear. At the end when casing guns, check the source of ammo is gone(mags) and check clear on each weapon as it is cased. Essentially I have a system, I don't allow others to distract me(if I have guests) while going through safety checks.
If a weapon needs to be cleaned or disassembled, that happens in a specific place outside the house. Weapon is always checked before hand in the safe direction.
I think once you break from the system and especially start finger fugging guns sitting around at home, you are asking for it. I think people need to create their own systematic routine and when they go through that routine, allow themselves not to be distracted.

Re: Had a ND today.
OP thank your lucky stars you didn't hurt anyone else or yourself. I have a friend who did hurt himself and he has a very nice scar to remind him. Your ego will hurt for a long time but let it be a reminder that you never forget.
Aggies Coach Really ??? Take off the tin foil bro.

I really do not understand how this continues to happen to anyone OTHER than new firearms owners! Many times it is caused by someone who would call themselves “knowledgeable”. Unless I came in contact with a firearm that could spontaneously fire, this is simply an impossibility for me! And I have trouble understanding how people continue to be careless.
I’m glad your carelessness did not injure or kill anyone.
Triple check your double check people!
