Default What would your child do if they found a gun?

Interesting test - especially considering the one little girl had been "taught" about guns and not to touch them,.

Great find dobie! Sme of the kids did really good, some not-so good.

I just know there are anti gun parents out there that hate the NRA so much they wouldn't teach their kids the eddie eagle gun safety rules just because they say NRA on the pamphlets.

That video was no doubt disturbing but not surprising. It was in a playground and I'm sure that a few of the children thought that it was a toy until they picked it up. That is the problem right there.

I have an 11 year old that I think would know exactly what to do in that situation. We take him shooting and he knows and can recite the 3 major rules of firearms safety. We also have had the discussion on what would you do if you found a gun. He knows don't touch it and tell an adult.

A few years ago though, before we started shooting and owning guns we never had any of these conversations and I wouldn't be so sure of what he would do. Maybe that's where alot of parents go wrong.

I didn't agree with the one rule at the end of the segment about never letting your children know where firearms are in your house. It almost goes right along with not letting your kids know that there's a gun at all. They need to be locked up, but not hidden. All that does is makes them curious, and then what happens when they find them, because they will. Its important for a child to have a healthy respect for guns and to know that they can kill and are not toys.

I would be reallllly interested to see what would happen if those kids were replaced with adults. I bet 3/4 of them would do the same thing if not more then that.
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.

Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.
