Thanks, and now I'll have a whole battery of new questions...like best holster, IWB or OWB, best carry make and model, what states are reciprocal, etc. For now I'll stick with my P7 and the armpit holster unless we're headed to Abington.

I prefer OWB serpa holsters. Some hate them because it puts you index finger inline to the trigger. Practice drawing with an empty weapon. Then go to the range and put holes in paper.

I would assume the thirty day time frame to appeal would start from the date on the PSP or Sheriff's / Chief's denial letter. If one was not sent (assuming it did not get thrown away in error)...how can you file a timely appeal when you are not informed of a denial and they have up to 45 days to deny or must issue?

I agree but I took a different route. And that 45 day thing? I didn't feel like I could win that one without a long, costly fight. In retrospect sending the late denial letter and requesting a second look by the PSP would have been worth a shot.

I'll bet that you got nothing on my brother and he's still alive, loose on the streets AND has a LTCF. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't have something hot on his tail and that is why I got rejected in the first place.

I only mentioned the 45 day limitation to approve because if they deny someone on day one, for example, that person won't know something is wrong until day 46 and begin asking questions. This is well beyond the 30 day to appeal requirement. Not fair!

Further, I thought if you failed to file an appeal in time, you had to wait one year before you could reapply or try again (to buy not sure of LTCF but may be the same).

    IANAL.
