.308 AR Type & Fulton Armory Titan
After much hemming and hawing I've decided to get a AR Pattern .308/7.62x51 rifle.
I am probably going to go with the DPMS/SR25 style over the Armalite. Mostly because I like the Fulton Armory Titan Uppers http://www.fulton-armory.com/Titan.htm which (except for adding a railed gas block) are pretty much exactly what I want in the A4 version. The float tube is essentially a YHM AR15 version (OEMed for FA) and I plan to standardize on those. I also have a stainless barrel fetish and these seem to be the only ones around except 24" unthreaded bull target barrels.
Does any one have experience with these? Quality?
Does the 16.5" run ok with the rifle length gas systems or am I safer with the 18" (I'll probably also get a 22" in the end for long range.)
Also what are your thoughts on the need for a forged lower like the Titan vs. DPMS's billeted? About $150 more for a stripped FA vs. DPMS.
Thanks

Re: .308 AR Type & Fulton Armory Titan
Thanks Scud,
I Like RRA and am using them for much of my AR15 Stuff. The .308s are a different breed though - no standardization between the 3 major platforms Armalite AR10, DPMS/SR25/POF/CMMG, & RRA/Bushy - All use different uppers, Lowers, Mags, Barrel Nut Threads (and therefore different hanguard/rail/float systems). While I like the FAL Mags on the Bushy/RRA there is almost no aftermarket support for it otherwise. The DPMS style seems to have a good rep for reliability and the best flexibility and aftermarket support for what I am looking to do.

Re: .308 AR Type & Fulton Armory Titan
I've not personally fired a DPMS but I have held a few. They are quality units. A guy I know has one and said it gives him 1/2 MOA all day long with a scope. IMHO that is great for a relatively inexpensive .308 semi.

I have an AR 10T that I like. I think that the Titan is a good product, but you are right about the DPMS. For the money, it is hard to beat. The RRA will take FAL mags. That will help to offset the cost, (if you were to take that route).
