Unfortunate outcome to say the least...
I was coming back from the range and witnessed a motorcyclist hit a guardrail and then a metal sign, flipping over it and ending down the embankment. I had my daughter and her school mate with me. I stopped to get out and render aid until I noticed my firearm was visible in the holster. I stopped, took my belt and holster off, putting it under the seat. I did this knowing the police would be arriving within minutes and didn't want to make myself the center of attention.
The cops arrive at the scene, help the guy, who was really banged up but alive. I gave a statement and off I went. Pretty much how this should have happened too. The guy should have either passed his weapon off to someone outside of the scuffle, put in his car, or otherwise stayed out of it.
Totally preventable if you put some forethought into it...
