Long time lurker since 2014, first post, Hello.
Hey everyone so I signed up here back in 2014 and forgot about my account.
I just bought my first AR, the S&W M&P Sport 2 and got to shoot it this past weekend and had a lot of fun with my friend. I also own a glock 27 too and am going through the motions finally to get my CCW in Philly to be able to carry.
I come from a family of non gun owners so my knowledge is limited and pretty much all came from reading, the internet, and youtube videos that helped me choose the weapons I have purchased. I think I did pretty good too I love the guns I have but like tattoos, I want more...
Anyway, I am in my late 20's, laid back philly dude, looking to branch out and meet other like minded people because outside of my brother and our friend, not many people we know in the Philadelphia area are big into guns.
Thanks for your time.

Welcome. I too came from a mostly anti gun family. Basically the same way I learned. YouTube, here and the likes.
Good luck on the LTCF.

Welcome! If you have any questions, always ask. There is no such thing as a stupid question.
Great choice on the M&P Sport 2. As a budget AR, I would not recommend much else. What sights do you plan to install? Glock is a good carry gun, I just hate .40. BTW PA does not have a CCW, we have an LTCF(License To Carry Firearms). Also, we tend not to call firearms "weapons". They are firearms, guns, rifles, shotguns etc. YOU are the weapon, everything else is a tool. Don't proliferate the demonization of our culture.
Here are some links to get you started to get you on the road to be articulate of all things firearms and second amendment, especially by Thanksgiving dinner time, lol.

I have much more, but this would be a rather long post. I may just make a super document on word with all relevant links one day.

Re: Long time lurker since 2014, first post, Hello.
Cool thanks for the info I'll check it all out, I just got an NRA membership too so I've been watching their goofy NRATV stuff which is a mix between entertaining and full blown cringe lmao. As for what sights etc. I have no idea yet. I want to remove the handguard though and put a quad rail on so I can definitely throw a flashlight and front grip on it but I am unsure about where to go from there sight wise. Any recommendations for me?
My family though isn't anti-gun either, if anything even my mother is interested because both of me and my brother's outlook that if someone brakes in, police are minutes away so it's best to have it and not need it yadda yadda.
The application to get your license to carry is a pain in the ass here too actually so that is about to be fun.

Ya, the Philly process is actually criminal.
Depends how you want to use your rifle. You get what you pay for though. The Vortex AMG UH-1 is like an Eotech. Aimpots are nice, Trijicon if you want magnification without the bulk. Iron sights, I recommend the Magpul MBUS Pro. Definitely go for the irons first. Learn proper marksmanship on that before moving up to an optic. I highly recommend taking an Appleseed course. They teach marksmanship and history/heritage that will give you a patriotism boost. They use .22, but people do take ar-15's. Ive done it, and was an instructor for the shooting aspect, and the process works.
