    Default Philly Renewal

Got a message from a friend in Philly today. She got a letter to pick up her license today. Two week turn around.

After I regained consciousness I got off the floor to write this.
I suppose if its a renewal its faster? I know my initial app took half a year. Now if they can just mail the thing instead of making you come in it would seem less like living in Byzantium.

I went and dropped off my renewal application today. Got there at 0820 and was met with a line of about 2 dozen people waiting for them to open at 0830.

The doors were opened at exactly 0830. There was one sign in sheet for LTCF pickups and one for people applying. They seem to be taking the privacy thing somewhat seriously as you were told to only sign in with your initials, not name and were called by the number of the line with your initials. I was #12.

Bottled water, soda (tax free) and various snacks were offered for purchase.

They had 8 Officers taking the applications and doing the bullshit "interviews." I was called on within about 20-25 minutes. No one had any attitude and every Officer I saw was actually very friendly. The Officer who took my application seemed especially laid back.

I was done by 0940. They only asked for my thumbprints on a handheld scanner because I was a renewal. I was also provided with a "receipt" with my file number to bring back for a "status check" if I don't get an approval letter within 40 days.

While still complete bullshit and ridiculous compared to most other counties, this was an incredible improvement over the previous Philly PD LTCF process. Plenty of ample free parking and a larger waiting area with plenty of seating is also very nice.

So glad I don't live in Philly..

Walked in, filled out paperwork, deputy made a copy, we chatted about guns while he typed on the computer, he said smile, spun the monitor for me to accept my digi pic.. 5 minutes later he handed me my renewed license and apologized for it taking so long.. maybe 20 minutes from arrival to departure

Anybody have any more recent timelines? Applied for my first about 2.5 weeks ago and wondering if they're still turning things around that quickly.

I got my approval letter today. It's dated 8/27, so about 25 days to process my renewal.
