Six men with fishing equipment and firearms openly carried at their sides caused a pause in the normal Sunday morning activity at Miami Beach's South Pointe Park Pier.

After Miami Beach Park Rangers notified police, Miami Beach police closed the pier around 10 a.m. to investigate. Police eventually determined they were within their state rights to carry their guns in such a manner.

Police reopened the pier, but left a couple of officers there and stated, "We are encouraging visitors to use other portions of South Pointe Park."

You aren't going to get anywhere by trying to tell a cop that you know the law better than they do during a situation like that.
Agree, but it could be a factor in potential civil proceedings.

If one is going to ENFORCE the law, one should be expected, at a minimum, to KNOW the law, especially the one being enforced.

I didn't watch all of it. Maybe I will later.
You've pretty much summarized it already. Save your time.

How about demanding to talk to their supervisor. Caution. That could presents an opportunity to pack you guys up and take you to the police station and perform the perp check in routine before you can see the super.

For those that enforce and those that have to obey the laws, there are too many laws for anyone to know or remember.

Seems fair, then. Except that one group is allowed to threaten and USE force to impose their will, and the other is told "Don't resist. You can sort it out later."
