Default Force on Force Training: Blue Mountain Firearms

Blue Mountain Firearms Training, with Marc Weiss as lead instructor, will be offering a Force on Force training course using either Simmunitions or UTM's. It will be held on 20Oct2018 at a dedicated training facilty in Stroudsburg, PA, Threat Assessment and Tactical Solutions. The course will be a "complete package" as to use of force, including not only scenarios using trained role-players, but also integrating within the context of those scenarios the legal elements of use of force that are necessary to have been met in order to justify the defender's having chosen whatever force option he or she used. Video-tape replay of selected scenarios will be used as AAR's in which defender's will have the opportunity to review what they did, how they did it, and why they did. The course will also deal with the legal and psychological aftermath. UPDATE

"By way of an update: The Blue Mountain training cadre met on 4Aug18 with the staff of TATS https://www.tatstraining.com. We have constructed a course of training that will incorporate multiple, common, use of force scenarios likely to be encountered by a private citizen. Each of the scenarios will be debriefed, immediately upon its completion. Not only will the students tactical performance be looked at, but, equally important, his or her use of force will be reviewed within the context of PA specific law as to our Justification defense. We will make use of Andrew Branca's Five Elements of ROE for the private citizen (Ayoob's characterization of those elements will be incorporated as well). We will also reference NJ Self-Defense Law since we anticpate enrollees from there. Our goal is to impart to each student an understanding of the degree to which he or she will face the inevitable legal consequences, if their use of force in a given scenario fell outside the parameters of Self-Defense.

Our students so far range from those who have no prior training of any kind in the use of a firearm in self-defense, to attorneys who, while licensed to practice law in their jurisdiction, have no specific law school training in self-defense law. Be advised that this is NOT a Military Operator course, there will be no run and gun. How a scenario develops will be how it develops. There will be branching options within the scenario making use of the skilled role-players TATS will provide (who are indeed former Federal Law Enforcement and former Military service members, and who understand the difference between Military and Private citizen ROE). This is a course that will i address for the private citizen, the issues of how to survive both physically, legally and psychologically if the shite hits the fan.

So, if you have your PA LTCF for more than transportation purposes, or, if you are on otherwise "certifiable 'good citizen'," and because you reasonably perceive the need, no matter how statistically remote the likelihood that you will be engaged in a potentially deadly force encounter, having had this course will provide you with a layer of legal defensibility that you will not get as a function of other training modalities.” ''
