Ruger GP-100 Engineering Failure?
While browsing the web, I stumbled upon this thread, and found it quite interesting. http://rugerforum.net/ruger-double-a.../topics/339378
Perhaps this gun (7 shot .357 mag GP-100) was engineered on a Friday afternoon.
Allegedly, seven rounds of certain SAAMI spec .357 cases will not fit in the cylinder without the rims overlapping, causing major ejection problems. Posters claim Ruger has exchanged some complainers' 7 shot models for 6 shot models (suggesting no fix is possible), but has not stopped selling the guns, or issued any public statements regarding the issue.

I also found this video describing the problem:
IMO, it is pretty disappointing that Ruger is still selling these guns, knowing that they will not work with all SAAMI spec ammo.

Wow that’s a bummer. I couldn’t warm to the 7 shot cylinder myself ! I never thought of that problem but refused to buy a chunky nice beefy revolver with almost paper thinned out cylinder walls to make 7 cartridges fit !! Now I am glad I bought all 6 shots !

So the problem is with the brass not the gun. Just use the ammo that fits. How many times have people with semi-auto hand guns said you have to find the ammo the gun likes.

Re: Ruger GP-100 Engineering Failure?
Has Ruger introduced ANY new models since the death of Bill Ruger that did not get recalled?

Re: Ruger GP-100 Engineering Failure?
I never got a canted Smith and Wesson revolver barrel, something that would be an assembly error. Ruger has a design error here, but it seems like it’s 38 special ammo not 357 magnum. They are supposed to be interchangeable, one based on the other, but are they made with different rim diameters?
Me, I’d rather go with the elegant revolver over the more hi-pointish revolver. Seems Ruger isn’t over engineered, it’s just a product of it’s materials. Ruger makes some excellent copies of Kel-Tec pistols for those who like their plastic already trimmed. They make really nice long guns with way over priced box mags, and Bill the anti gun fudd is no longer running things, so maybe they will address this design error. We shall see.The Gun is the Badge of a Free Man
