Re: Moving to PA from NJ / Inherited guns in NJ
I agree moving to PA first is the best move. Getting NJ pistol permits is a huge hassle, with fingerprints, letters from friends, the wait, etc. and that's with a friendly police department.
But there is another factor. The new NJ gun bill might make some of the mags illegal if they are >10 rds.

The bill’s provisions are effective immediately, but allow for a 180-day grace period to transfer, render inoperable, or voluntarily surrender a semi-automatic rifle or magazine that will be unlawful under the bill.
To be totally above board, If you have >15 rd mags I think you would have to destroy them or turn them in (which is very dicey depending on where you do it) and buy new ones in PA.
You should check on when the Gov is signing the 10 rd mag limit bill if he has not done so already. It takes effect immediately upon signing but you would have 6 months to dispose of the offending mags. (A transfer to a PA resident would count as disposing so you would have to move within 180 days)
Yes, NJ sucks but this is all supposing some of the mags fall into the 10-15 rd category which might make this whole post moot.
I am not a lawyer.

Re: Moving to PA from NJ / Inherited guns in NJ
I think the max is 8 rounds, the rest are revolvers, so I should be good.
Oh man, I really hope this isn't just a joke
This community better wake up soon, I mean that
I talked to my fiancee about it (she actually suggested it to me before for other reasons), the move is going to happen, just a matter of a year or so, I'm really excited to move back to America.

As a guy who lives in a state where you need to file for a permit and undergo a background check and a 30+ day wait just to buy a BB gun, I am amazed by this
