The chambers are very clean guys. Rounds drop in and out freely until fired.

This leads me to think your chambers are a bit tight. Flex-hone makes the cure. Check out their website and go to the gun portion. Don't forget the oil.

I owned two S&W 940 revolvers which had notoriously sticky chambers. As I also had two Ruger 9mm SP 101 revolvers that didnt stick, the 940 chambers were visibly rougher with concentric rings. A chamber hone, oil, and quality time fixed the extraction problem.

Same for a friend's SS Ruger Vaquero, it had one consistently sticky chamber with NO visible cause. Honing took care of it.

I have a recently aqcuired Ruger Alaskan 454. Ive become a lot more comfortable shooting it now that i dont lock my arms. This past weekend I was shooting it quite comfortably, also a lot faster. The cases didnt stick like in my 480 ruger but only like 4 would drop free and two would need assistance. I dont know if it was the heat or what, So far Ive only fired Factory Hornady out of it until i get enough brass to start loading. It was also getting harder to pull the hammer back and advance the cylinder towards the end of 24 rounds over the course of 5 or 6 minutes. Going to clean it and try again this weekend.

Have you tried polishing the cylinder with a 40 call swab dipped in metal Polish? I had to do this with ano uberti I had from time to time. 38s would drop right out, mags hung up. Bored swab on a drill should Polish it up really nice.
