There's a chance of one of those happening, but not both - and not the one that everyone has been dreaming of.

Over time, decades maybe, it'll become a pretty good record of who owns firearms.

Gene, Streaker's sarcasm tags are sometimes difficult to see. I'm fairly sure he's referring to the fact that the PA Supreme Court ruled that the PA Record of Sale database is not a registry because it's incomplete.

Well, based on the language of this proposal, we can finally argue that a record of sale scheme is a de facto registration. And that PA statute interpretation should revert back to the State Police destroying all records once the sale is determined to be legal.

That's a rabbit that won't be put back in the hat. Never, ever going to happen.

If they want to make it easy to get an idea of who has what, fix it so it only takes three weeks to get a tax stamp.

No, they will have to offer up their lives if they decide to go through with such a thing. We already have illegal firearm registration here in PA, the time has come for payment due.
We now live in a lawless era where laws no longer apply to government officials.

We have had a quasi-registration since 1968. It's gone down hill since then.
