Re: new build
There's a lot of really cool hand guards out there like that. (I'm not really a fan of that one with the eagle though)
I was looking at some of them when I was building my wife's rifle, but cost was a factor, so she decided the ALG Defense hand guard in anodized purple would be just as "ladylike" as a fraction of the cost.
Here's two places with that style of hand guard. There are others as well.

I have to say, I did not foresee this evolution in gun design.
The influx of women combined with the overall expansion of the market base has really changed the purely utilitarian traditional design.
The change in technology is also a major factor. How can you have any cookies if you don't drink your milk?

Re: new build
I have been building ARs now since right after the Clinton AWB expired in '04...so a little while. I know I'm not, but it seems like I was "first" in many uses. LOL. I was using 4 rail, free float guards when everyone was still using stock carbine plastics. I started with the phantom 5C2 flash hiders, when every other AR I would see used an A2 FH. And I do know for a fact that I was among Spikes Tsctical's first customers. I remember them as a small company. Look at them now! But I am not sold on these "designer" handguards. Don't get me wrong, I think they are beautiful! Very nice looking, and a brilliant selling feature! I have nothing against using one. But I have put many years into designing what I believe to be "the best" AR. And from all I the handguards I have been through, I believe the JL Billet to reign supreme & use them for ALL of my ongoing builds.
