Remove all the NRA stickers and glossy AR-15 decals from the exterior of the vehicle.

Try not to store your traveling coffee and pastries in an old cardboard "1,000 rounds 5.56 ammunition" box on the passenger seat.

Avoid smelling like a day at the range.
    Just to clarify.
When in a 'first contact' you would be required to inform before shutting up, correct?
And similarly for a 'on demand' if demanded.

Wouldn't using a rental vehicle cut down the possibility of being stopped?

I printed the following out, laminated it and taped to the back of my drivers license and LTCF:

"I wish to exercise my right to remain silent.

I do NOT consent to a search of my vehicle, property or person.

    Am I free to go?

If I am being detained or arrested, I will not say anything with a lawyer."

I am not sure it is the smartest thing to do, but it explains why I will not answer the "is there anything I should know about in your car" question.

In my opinion, the fifth amendment applies in all fifty states.

So, it won't make matters worse by not answering the cop's question when asked? That's not being "uncooperative"? What if asked to step out of vehicle? Do you have to do that? Then he sees your gun, fears for his safety and shoots you. Is handing him your LTCF when he asks about weapons acceptable? I know about hands visible/hands on wheel. I haven't been stopped in years and never when carrying/transporting. I just like to make it home at the end of the day, without extra ventilation holes.

    So you said.
I would like Phil's opinion on it for clarification.
People can and do get arrested for ignoring the notification laws.

    See post 2.

    If you are carrying.

If you are in a 'none' state then keep your mouth shut and be polite and professional as always.
If you are in a 'first contact' state then declare at first contact and present your LTCF with your license, and be polite and professional as always.
If you are in a 'upon demand' state then keep your mouth shut and only declare if asked, and if declaring then present your LTCF, and be polite and professional as always.

People have certainly been arrested for violating unconstitutional laws, yes. So if your primary concern is not getting arrested, you may not want to stand up for your rights.

It was my impression that Bravo was asking for best practices to avoid arrest during his trip.
