Removable/portable reloading press
My reloading setup is currently in the garage where it is mounted to a workbench. I would like to move it inside on a project workbench, but I don't want to have it permanently attached since I only reload a few times per year. My preference would be to have something I can either put on or take off the bench easily. I've been searching for ideas and think I might like something like this: http://precisionrifleblog.com/2012/1...g-press-plans/. Do any of you have a setup like this, or have any other ideas that might work?

Re: Removable/portable reloading press
I have a Lee turret press currently. I'm just looking for some creative ideas to use it in the house on a workbench without putting holes in the bench. Here is another link I found this morning: http://www.saubier.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7334.

Re: Removable/portable reloading press
Since you have a Lee turret press.
Have you considered their reloading stand ?

Here's something like I made early on. The pic is from Castboolits.

Made one for a family member with a black and decker workmate, 2x4 and some plywood like this:

It ain't what they call you, it's what you answer to.

Re: Removable/portable reloading press
Is the project bench heavy? Do you have a vise on it?
What I do may work for you. My bench has a 4" vise on the right corner. The vise is lag screwed into the bench -an old solid core door. My presses are lag screwed into 2 x 4 (2 pieces back to back and screwed together - about a foot long).
When I want to reload I just put the 2x4s into the vise and lock it down tight.
I used to keep them removed and on a side shelf but I have not needed the vise in a while and the press has been there around 8 months.
At times I use a 5" C clamp to mount a jr. press off the (2x4s) big press in an L shape. The jr press is just lag screwed to a single 2x4 but just used for decapping or other light duty work. (sorry I don't have a camera)
Just last week I had a case trimmer (screwed to a small sheet of wood) C-clamped to the (2x4s) big press in the vise. Then removed and put away.
My bench is heavy with lots of stuff on it. The setup is VERY solid. Everything easily removed. Everything at a good working level.
Almost zero cost.

Good luck,

Re: Removable/portable reloading press
I inlaid a couple Rockler T-tracks (http://www.rockler.com/30-aluminum-t...yABEgIGUfD_BwE) so that I could use multiple presses on the same rail system. Works like a charm.
I'm only here for the wood c-rings.

Re: Removable/portable reloading press
I'd second ett's recommendation that you look at the Lee Precision Reloading Stand. I've used it with a Classic Turret and briefly with a LNL AP (no case or bullet feeder at the time.
It worked just fine for me with 1 block suspended underneath - never slung the second one under it. The Turret was completely stable and remains mounted on the stand. The LNL AP was also perfectly stable but the attached wood base eventually split and would have needed a steel plate to handle that press's weight, mounting footprint, and overhang.

Re: Removable/portable reloading press
My press is mounted on a small piece of plywood. In the photo below, it's clamped to the stand from my bench grinder. It could also be moved to a workbench if desired. The spacers between the top and bottom plywood are to allow for the bolt heads on the underside of the top piece.
It ain't fancy, but it works, and is easy to move.
