    Such a beautiful sight. Just wish it wasn't going to be such a PITA to try to get one But try I will - need another WWI / WWII 1911 !

    Agree, anything rare or very valuable will be auctioned. I believe I heard somewhere that some of the 1911's received this year are from a "museum" stockpile.

    I've been kicking it around but I don't know. I recognize the historical significance and collectability, but for the price I could just as easily buy a new modern production 1911 with all the bells and whistle.

    Besides the Unicorn Singer, what else would you be looking for?

    Actually , Remington Rand made over 2x the number of 1911A1s during WWII than Colt and were regarded as superior and at lower cost per pistol.
