I totally agree that Wayne has to go; he has slowly eroded our rights by giving in to the antis at every turn. Wayne refuses to take a hard line stand on anything he just gives in to the antis a little at time.
IMHO Wayne only in it for the moneyThe oracle is in. Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill!!

Re: I'm not a fan of this new NRA position.
It's a brilliant political/PR move.
What everyone hears: "No guns beyond the metal detectors."
What the NRA will tell its members that they really mean: "Metal detectors will find ALL the guns, then only the 'good guys' with guns will be allowed to pass."Get your "Guns Save Lives" stickers today! PM for more info.

As predicted (in october) right on schedule.
Now lets see who the owner is of all these metal detecting devices.

Federally? Hypothetically, it's probably possible, but IMO, it's a state's rights issue. I WOULD like to see our own state preemption expanded to included school districts. They levy and collect taxes, so they most certainly are a "government entity" as opposed to a private business/venture.

Well, technically they only allow those licensed by the state in which the school resides, IIRC. In other words, no reciprocity but non-resident permits would be ok.
IMHO, it is an individual right not to be controlled by any government level, whatsoever. IANAL, however. Preemption would seem to be a step in the right direction but then would imply that the state has the power to control, question, or infringe on the individual right. It is you. You have all the weapons that you need. Now fight. --Sucker Punch

Re: I'm not a fan of this new NRA position.
Our school where I taught had a rash of "false fire alarms" being pulled by students. For whatever reason we arrived at school one day to a cordon of security guards with metal detectors at each door. It was amazing what security found on the students. Mostly tobacco products, an occasional pocket knife, water pistol (big no-no these days) but not much else.
My thought is that if somebody wanted to shoot up a school having a metal detector would simply necessitate that the operator would be the first victim. Not an effective solution in my opinion.
