Throwing out brands and models is kinda useless. We have no idea of what your experience is or what you can handle or what pistol feels best in your hands. Go to a range with a friend and rent some. See what strikes your fancy.

That being said, the Sig P365 is small, comfortable, with a great trigger.

As already pointed out the lady needs to go shoot a variety of guns to see which one she likes best and is best at shooting. Recommending a car is the same thing, you won't know if you like it until you drive it.

Take her to a range with a good rental variety and let her see what works for her.

Having said that, most women want smaller grips, easily racked slides, and low recoil.
In my experience, a semi auto pistol with a medium to small frame chambered in 9mm is usually about right for a lot of women.

If she has little to no experience, then take her to a range that offers training, and incorporate the training with her trying different gun rentals.
There are ranges that offer training by women for women, and she may find this preferable if she is not entirely comfortable with the process.

I've gained some interest in the new Shield EZ and can see it in my pocket for summer carry. Think it would be good for a woman that is new to guns. Think that is one of the reasons S&W introduced this. BTW S&W is coming out with an M&P 9c 2.0 in a 3.6in barrel. It will retain the 15 round mag like the 4in 9c2.0. Guess they're trying to cover all the bases for edc. Good for them. Hope it does well as I'm a fan.

Be a real sport and take the lady to a rental range where she can try various models and pick the one SHE likes best based on HER definition of ease of operation, fit and feel, and accuracy.

My wife tried 9 different handguns before she decided on the one she wanted. A Lady Smith and Wesson in .357 mag. EDC and home protection. Let her pick her gun.
