one requirement is that I be able to order any part I wish and work on the gun if needed. I will send it in for service if I decide to, not because they refuse to sell me a hammer or pin.

next weekend or maybe Tuesday I will be able to go on a rental spree at the range, when I get home maybe I'll post a list of suggestions that are available as rental.
I don't know what's 'manufacturer fitted' but here's a link to lots of good parts and accessories.

it is a very poor description for parts you must send your firearm to them to have installed. parts they refuse to sell to public. like a roll pin or hammer.
ruger pulled that on me not too long ago. buyer beware I guess.

Give the Sig P320 a try. With it's modular system you can configure for full size to sub-compact and everything in between by adding grips and barrels.

I went with a P320 RX in 9mm and later bought a Beretta 92A1. Both are highly accurate, reliable, and shoot well. Comfort wise, the P320 handles and feels great in the hand, better than the Beretta because of the large grip on the Beretta. It's not a game ender, but it does make a difference. The P320 shoots very well, even better since I put a GrayGuns trigger in it. Easy to clean as well. I looked at Glocks, they shoot well, but the grips on them are terrible... ok, they didn't suit me.

Lets be honest... most pistols today (striker or hammer) are highly reliable and shoot well. Go to the range and rent, then rent some more. Shoot as many as you can and you will know which pistol suits you.

Happy hunting and let us know which way you went.

lol, between all you guys. i'll be renting the whole lot of em.
poor range guy, im gonna do quite a bit of finger bangin' before i decide.

any reason to consider trying the gen 3's since 4's are available? i'll probably try one glock, whichever fits better. and the best feeling of the rest of the suggestions.
