If you're getting the certification and will be working armed security why would you even consider trying to qualify with your 'pocket pistol"? If the contract requires armed guards someone has determined there is a threat and it is likely armed. This would be like someone considering attending barber school... with their Swiss Army Knife scissors.

Check out Surplus City in Feasterville. They always have police trade ins for about half of the budget you stated. Right now they have S&W 5906s for $299.95 and Beretta 92Ss for $295. If you go there take the time to look through all of the pistols. I lucked out 2 years ago when I found an unissued Gen 4 Glock 17 for $285. It was an armor's model and was still sealed in the case from the factory.

thought it was clear in the first few posts that I was shopping for a full frame firearm.suitable for both the test and employment.

I only.mentioned I wasn't good with the pocket mule because that is my option short of buying.

thank you for the link, I will check it out and TooBig, I always try to get at least 4 mags for firearms. so if a 10rnd model is less.. I'll be buying mags anyway. might be worth the upfront savings as they'll just be ammo box mags.

Chances are, whatever you save is going to be outrun by the cost of any mags you buy. HK mags are NOT cheap... P30/VP9 mags are $40 at the cheapest, if you look enough, more typically around $45.

ah well. thought i saw them around the $20's, maybe they were knockoffs.
then maybe that narrows it down to the 3 different color 15rnd models.
i'll be contacting my ffl and see what he can offer. been browsing about the net and prices all seem in the $590 to $699 range with some outliers above and below.
wonder if independence day will bring any sales.

Browsing on gun.deals, it seems like it's gone as low as $500 from PSA, though that was 5 months ago...

    https://gun.deals/search/apachesolr_...=date&dir=desc

There's guns that are 2 15rd mag, non night sight models (I believe you can remove the LE from each SKU to get them), but again, if you're fine with the Meprolight tritium sights, it's usually best to just stick with the LE 3 mag night sight models.

the model i used was a non-tritium model, seemed like just regular ol' white dots to me. i figured they'd be better to have than not so i only threw those model #'s into my post a few back.
yes the part numbers were similar.

Cdnn has the HK's on email special every now and then. Their regular prices are still pretty good, and they usually have a nice selection in stock.

That is a full frame, one of the best full size on the planet, a Sig P226 MK25. The Anchor is on there because that is the official sidearm of the Navy SEALs.

But I’d still recommend a Glock 17 or 19. Mostly because it’s half the price of a MK25 and it will get the job done just the same.

Not anymore, they just switched to the Glock 17 and will be phasing out the 226. That being said both the Glock and the MK25 were put in the Arsenal room but most seals carry what they want many of which choose some sort of 1911 varient followed by the USP.
