Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Re: Bought vacation house, found 2 rifles in the garage
Before you toss the rusty .22 to the next gun buy back consider cleaning it up. I've picked up a few nasty .22 rifles at auctions that cleaned up rather well. It'll take you about an hour with 000 & 0000 steel wool and 400-600 grit sandpaper to get all the rust off. After that a few coats of Van's Instant Blue and you will be surprised at the outcome.
Poor condition single shot .22s at auction often sell for around $30. As long as the bore is good they're worth the effort. Best of all... my $30 investment is easily worth $35 when I'm done! In all seriousness, I usually give them to young family members (kids) if they have an interest and mom and dad say it's ok.

MT1, I don't think I'll get a better deal on it, than $100-150 at gun buyback, with virtually zero effort.
Not to mention, legally keeping some of Blomberg's money over a rusty no good piece of junkJe suis déplorable

Re: Bought vacation house, found 2 rifles in the garage
At least find out what it is before you ditch it or post some pictures up if you can't identify it.
I picked this up for a sight unseen sale of old junk long gun's that were rusty and ruined. They owner said he found them in his basement when he cleaned out his house who was also his parents house before his. He never knew they were there and he was around 37 at the time. He told me one was a double barrel shot gun the other an old beat up muzzle loader and a pellet gun, the rest parts and old stocks. Well the other two were crap with broken parts but that rusty covered pellet gun that turned out to be something special.
Most likely it's one of the zillion 22lr rifles made from the beginning of time on and probably worthless but you never know. Personally I wouldn't give it to a gun buy back just because F-them and they will count it as a victory getting one less deadly arm off the street but I don't hold it against someone who uses it against them either.Join the GOA & save $5.00. https://www.gunowners.org/mac-subs-join-goa.htm
