Default Yes, rallies can be effective if….

Yes, rallies can be effective if there is a specific goal and you get people to come out in sufficient numbers to accomplish that goal. You might then ask, what is an example goal and how do you get people to come out?

In the way of a little background, here is a post from another thread…

I also wonder though, do we really hammer the BG's? What do we do? Make phone calls? Send emails? While lawmakers do consider those things, and while those things are important to do, they alone have limited effect because they do not put fear the hearts of the weak.

Want to put fear in them? (fear is a very effective motivator.) Imagine if even half the people that attended the rally turned out at Ron Marsico's district office? He is chairman of the Judiciary committee. All firearms law goes to his committee. He brings it up, or not. If he does, and it passes his committee, it goes to a floor vote. So, he is the 'gatekeeper' in the House.

Rally at his district office (outskirts of Harrisburg) on a day he will be there, with signs that say "no new firearms restrictions" and watch the media turn out. When they do tell them that if he brings new restrictions forward, the 2A community will make sure his political career is over.

That is the kind of pressure/coordination we need to really be effective. But it takes a huge effort to get that number of people out and frankly, I don't see enough of us volunteers who are willing to do that kind of heavy lifting.

I wonder if we could form a small group of activists from across the state who are willing to create and execute plans similar to the one above (team name 2A-Heavy) who would then be responsible for motivating their people locally.

    Anyone interested?

So, what it takes is a number of leaders from different geographic areas who will come together, agree on a plan, and then execute that plan. Typical components include creating a rally flyer then printing maybe 5-10 thousand and distributing packs of 50 at gun stores, ranges, gun shows, etc.

We are now trying to assemble that core group of area leaders. If you are willing, please say so in this thread.

    Right now we have:

    Here.
    Let's get it done.
Longcall, it would probably be best if you tell us what dates you can work with for a meeting in the Harrisburg area.

A quick glance shows representation thusfar is mostly South Eastern PA.

Hope more jump on board from other areas of the State.
