What do you make of this sniper rifle?
Came across this sniper rifle that Iran claims is locally manufactured. Looks like a hodgepodge of poorly fitting parts. What's it look like? I am sure we'll be seeing it in Syria soon.

Re: What do you make of this sniper rifle?
Basic action is an old military Mauser 98. You can see the trigger guard still has the hole to move a swivel to. Likely a really old Gew 98 from WW 1 era donated the action. The bolt is also a stock 98 military bolt other then the odd bend and you can see the side of the bolt shroud as well. As for the stock fittings to make it a sniper rifle... WTF??? If it was well done by somebody who knows about headspace and action bedding it could be workable. It does look like the shroud/handguard is mounted on the receiver ring so the bipod would not bear on the barrel. The barrel is a bit lightweight for a typical sniper set up, but we don't know the quality of the barrel being used. I'd like to see the groups this guy gets with it before I pass judgement.

The windage knob looks a bit odd too. I doubt they make their own optics. Not sure about the markings on the elevation knob. How does a 7.62 round fare in 1000+yards situations?

Re: What do you make of this sniper rifle?
Why would the Iranians put Sniper in big letters on the side (in English). Are they going to start marketing them here?
