A man apparently shot and killed himself Friday in a parking lot at the Marquis Shopping Center in York County, the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said.

The shooting happened shortly after 6 p.m. outside the Dick’s Sporting Goods store, said Capt. Troy Lyons of the sheriff’s office. The man has not been identified.

Lyons said it appears the man shot himself inside a vehicle.

No one else was injured in the shooting.

Deputies and investigators from sheriff’s office were on the scene as of 7:30 p.m. The area has been closed off.
