How did MSM come up with "shell casings"?
Seems to me shells would do it. Or spent cases. Shell casings sounds like something that once held a shell and is now discarded. Maybe the thing that goes up is what separates them?

I grew up with the term. You want bad? Try heads. I got some heads for 357. The bottom of a cartridge case has the head stamp and the primer hole. How can the bullet be a head? Cannons use shells, they call them guns, but guns use cartridges except for shotguns they use shells sometimes called hulls but often called shot shells or shell casings.

Because cartridge is to long of a word for a liberal to spell.

Re: How did MSM come up with "shell casings"?
I think the original term "shell casing" comes from around the time of early cartridge ammo. Might be a British term from late 1800's. Didn't early artillery crews also have a coat/jacket called a "casing" jacket? Dunno.....still working on first cup o coffee....
