Re: OAKS 2 Day Gunshow MAY 19-20, 2018
I gave the nra guy 30 bucks for a pay it forward type gesture. Picked up a 19x and a 22/45 lite in green is for a host for a warlock II in jail.

Re: OAKS 2 Day Gunshow MAY 19-20, 2018
I went yesterday morning. Decent show, picked up some ammo and reloading components. Very few milsurps or antiques, looks like I will need to go to the Allentown Forks of the Delaware show for that. I think I finally figured out who "Aubrey" is - tall attractive dark haired woman dressed in black at a table selling custom holsters in the second hall, near the rest rooms?

Re: OAKS 2 Day Gunshow MAY 19-20, 2018
I don't disagree. Some dealers are just too set in their ways, fine that's on them. For the rest, I'm not sure how they can adapt. If customers are price shipping only, then Walmart and Amazon will be impossible to beat. In the gun industry, that means Bud's and a few others. Only the very largest local gun shops will survive, as they can buy new guns in bulk and work on volume as well. But that leaves a lot of gaps in PA, where we'd like to walk in to a shop and find some neat used guns. The forum members on various sites are trading/selling millions of dollars each year in used guns, so the market is huge. Ironically, there are many local shops trying to find use guns for their shelves, but lots of folks are holding on to their older guns.
I'm not certain how much of the gun show issue is price either. At least, I don't feel it's all of the issue. Handgun purchases take time, about the same at the show and in a shop - at least that's what I've experienced. But folks at a show like to keep moving, so any time spent in a chair isn't going to go over too well. Nothing a dealer can do about that. I'm not promoting cash/carry, but I know more guns would be sold if that were the case. I suggested to one dealer today that a show patron should have the option to pay a PICs fee at the door and be cleared before the enter. I know that freaks a lot of folks out, but it would give you freedom to buy whatever you want at the show - we just need to convince the feds it's a good idea ; )Honey, sell my guns for what they're worth and not what I told you I paid for them.

So, I took my buddy to the show today...we walked around looking for a few different handguns, which he had previously researched. It was between the new M&P 2.0 and the HnK VP9...the VP9 won hands down. He was super pleased with the purchase and is planning on joining a club. Overall a good day.

I had a table, so only speed walked the show a couple times. It helps to go to the show with a list of what you're looking for, especially when in a rush. I actually picked up two nice revolvers. Neither are mainstream models, so values can be off at times. One revolver, I had to visit the table several times, over two days, and work the dealer down. The other dealer took a trade off my hands. I sold off a couple guns and some ammo i had. So I had a great show. The other guns, i'll just sell off online. Shows are more fun on the customer side of the table, trust me on that.
Honey, sell my guns for what they're worth and not what I told you I paid for them.
