I remember when I was 10-11 or so. I told such a joke to a friend of mine, with his father present. Joke went something like this:

"Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, a smart pollock and a dumb pollock are at a round table with a bag of candy in the middle. Who ends up with the candy?" The punchline of course is "The dumb pollock, because the other three are imaginary."

Friend's father got all indignant, and said, "Just so you know, we're Polish...so that joke isn't very funny."

My friend later said, "No dummy - my last name is Deisadora. We're Italian!!" (note: I have no idea how to spell Deisadora).

I imagine telling that joke in a school today would result in a suspension, at a minimum.
