    marks·man (märks′mən)
    n.
    1. A man skilled in shooting at a target.
    2.
    a. A classification in the US Army and Marine Corps for the lowest of three ratings of rifle proficiency.
    b. One who holds this rating.
I guess we can call him a marksman, just don't try to call him a sharpshooter or a sniper.

See the thing under the guy on the lefts arm? That is a Global Navigation Satellite System receiver.
If I used one of those I could hit gongs at 1000 yards all day with ease.

I guess 25-mile impacts from cannon aren't marksmanship either?
    I know, tough crowd.

I can't wait to see the 4-mile shot videos posted in this thread since it's so easy. Let's see them, fellas.

1000 isn't hard, I was able to do it with a .223 and 77gr Berger handloads. However I'm not seeing the issue with him having a gps set up so that he knows his exact distance. At that range you are looking at feet of drop per yard so knowing the exact distance to the target is paramount.

What I would have liked to seen was how many times he could get hits after his sighters . That would be the real test of him and his equipment . With only one hit was it a fluke ?3- 5 hits in a row then damn ! That's moa accuracy at 3 miles .

Yep. A conclusive test would be demonstrated repeatability. The ability to predictably repeat and obtain the same results is what elevates science from a concept to theory.

Good for him. I'd rather see the 5.56 shot at 1000 yards. That's real shooting.

I remember 2 miles with the 50 was a feat in itself, and the target was a 12 tall rock.
