As for vasoline and sand, never heard it put quite that way. Someone I know used to say "polygrip and sand" and he was referring to taking it up the butt.

I have both MK I and II's and in over 40 years, never had a problem. If you think those are strange then try a P08 or a C96's Dave_n

The C96 is one of the most interesting. Then again, if it loads with stripper clips I love it.

It is really that hard to release your grip when the bolt reaches the end of it's travel?

Is there any other way to do it?

It's not as if .22s have an overly strong recoil spring either.

Got one from Ruger yesterday, makes all the difference in the world. It slips over to bolt handle and is locked in place with the screw. If you take it off nobody will ever know if there was one on their. Transfer

It's not so much that the spring is powerful, but through repeated actions your thumb and trigger finger gets pretty irritated. If you played with one for a couple hours, you would know what I mean.

The fact that these devices exist says some people have really had a problem pulling/releasing the Marks' bolts.

But for the life of me with over 10k rounds fired, I can't figure out why. Thumb and index finger, light grip, the ears come out of the fingers when reaching end of travel. Done. Easier than any pistol slide, especially one with optics attached. I look at the device and it only seems to make the action more complicated lol.
