The question needs to be asked of the op:
Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?

“But I'll tell you how this liberal libertarian looks at things.
    1. The liberal in me believes that the government has an important role in our lives: military, clean water, protecting the forest and natural resources, providing affordable education-- and yes healthcare (not Obamacare-- that is an insurance scam-- but some sort of basic healthcare-- even if it a yearly check up and free emergency services). And of course: roads, utilities, crime, etc.”

I drove my guns here from out of state. Where do I have to go to fill out this questionnaire?
The water in Flint is fantastic.
The healthcare in the VA is just top-notch
So many roads here are as smooth as a babies bottom.
    Gov treats our military wonderfully.
US education system is just great.
A yearly checkup and free emergency services? What does that leave elective surgeries? Nothing is free but this sounds great.

No wonder you want the gov to do all this. They have a great record.

They used to teach firearm education in school. I had it.

How much safer I'd feel if some guy had to sign a form stating he understood hundreds and thousands of laws pertaining to firearms in order to purchase a rifle before his strung out son stole it and shot up basketball practice.

I agree. When it comes to supporting the second amendment, it's not what one owns, its how one votes.

Why the OP's insistence on safety and gun law testing before purchase? Is there an epidemic of negligent discharges and breaking gun laws? Seems like more should be done on teaching kids to have good morals, respect for fellow humans and closer monitoring of activities and mental condition. As far as reducing poverty as a way of reducing crime, maybe if they were stealing food, but I see it as taking the easy way out, instead of hard work. As far as getting flamed; Isn't it a common rule in polite society not to discuss politics and religion? I'm almost positive that if he asked a legitimate gun related question, there would be good answers from members here. There is a better way of introducing yourself other than the way he did it.(I'm almost out of popcorn, let's wrap this up).
