Hospital Carry?

Any part of the hospital where I am not allowed to carry in? I'll probably concealed carry because theres already a bunch of tension at a hospital, and nut jobs gettin dragged in off the street.

Legally, no. You'll probably want to avoid an MRI machine.

I CC'd in and out of my local ER this past week, speaking to security several times as I passed in and out throughout the evening. Didn't have any issues.

At one point, a PSP cruiser was outside. Apparently someone at the county jail started a fight.....and it didn't turn out so well for them. This genius ended up right next door to my wife - complete with unarmed hospital security standing by outside the curtain. And some say you don't "need" to carry in a hospital.

All the hospitals I work in they are Open Defenseless Victim zones. If found to be carrying either open or concealed you will immediately be escorted off the property by “security”. In some hospitals they have their own private “Police Force” that have arrest powers.

That is true unless it is a VA hospital. I had a conversation with the head of the VA police at a local hospital I worked at regarding what happens if they find out someone is inadvertently carrying in their hospital. If you pass the "attitude" test, chances are you will be asked to take the weapon to your car. I asked him if they could secure my weapon in their office while I work. He said that since we had this conversation to just not bring it in. He offered to fingerprint me for my Utah carry permit. Seemed like a good guy.

I find the opposite true at the hospitals I work in. No postings. I call security regularly to gain access to unoccupied rooms i need to work in. I'm more at ease carrying in hospitals than I am with my own workmen who try to guide my foot onto a ladder rung as I climb out of a ceiling while I am ankle carrying.

I think that the OP was just asking. Good question actually as in many states, maybe most states, hospitals as on the state's list of prohibited places for carry.

I am very grateful that we live in PA with very few legally prohibited places for carry. I always carry in the hospital, unless I am the patient. I would never go to the any ER without carrying (unless I was the patient). There have been numerous very bad issues of violence in ERs across the country. This stuff doesn't just happen on the TV show ER.

Not to hijack this thread but my wife is going to deliver our 3rd child in the next few days, I have been trying to decide if I will carry concealed when we go to the hospital. I think that my little Kel-tec will make the trip in my front pocket. Wife will never know.

I've CCed in hospitals before...no biggie. Just keep it covered. If you OC in a hospital,you'll likely have problems. I even had my ankle X-rayed while carring a Ruger sp101. No I was not carrying it in an ankle holster.

It was safe in the Smartcarry.

The last time I carried in a hospital was on May 9 2008. I visited my mom before heading to the OCB in Dickson City.
