We had a command "Silence" in the Navy that was a step up from Cease Fire on the line or when handling live ammunition on ships and depots. It literally meant freeze in place and was used when a projectile or powder case was mishandled or when something bad happened on the range. I think it was common terminology in the Marines, at least at Camp Pendleton during small arms training.

I heard from a fellow shooter at the range last week about a 6 round max in magazines. Is this true?

    Never mind... I found it.

" (6) Load or discharge a firearm that contains more than six rounds of single projectile ammunition."

Yes, to the best of my knowledge. I was at a SGL range a week or so ago, Game Warden stopped by to check everyone's permits. I asked him, because it used to be 3 rounds. He said it's now 6 for rifle and pistol, but he wasn't sure about shotgun. He said it may still be 3 for shotguns.

Fire more than six rounds without a reload, and the game warden will promptly come out of the bushes, and walk you over to the posted regs to have you read them aloud.

    Or click on ShadeRabbit's links.

At the range I go to the most, there are no signs anywhere about this. I looked everywhere too.

I know now so I won't chance loading more than 6 in any of my firearms.

    Thanks for the help guys

Where can you use shotguns? There is a regulation that says, no multi-projectile ammo is permitted. Slugs?
