Default Broken thumb and being able to shoot again

I broke my thumb on my right hand three weeks ago. Doctor said I should be able to shoot again after all is said and done. I was wondering if anyone ever had a problem after their recovery being able to shoot.

Hyperextended my thumb while skiing a couple decades ago. Took a spill, and put my hand out to brace my myself (protect my face). My thumb bent almost back to my wrist. Took forever to heal, and never really healed all the way. Probably would have been better off if I broke it, or at least I should have went to the doctor.

I broke my right thumb at the MPC joint when I was training in Karate and Aikido in 96. It healed, however, after 22 years, arthritis is developing.

Sounds like a perfect time to do nothing but dry fire and shoot with your non-dominant hand! I sustained a tendon and ligament injury to my dominant hand. Doc said I would have had a faster recovery had I simply broken a digit or two. I did some pretty intense physical therapy and it helped me get back to "normal" in about four weeks. Follow the docs orders and all will be well. Might as well get out and work out that left handed shooting in the mean time.

Look at my avatar, that’s nothing but metal parts holding my bones together. Practice, practice, practice!

Shoot left handed for a while. I did that after carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand. Took a while to load mags but it was good practice

add some Epsom salt to the hot water for a little extra relief. It seems to help me.

I shattered my thumb last memorial day in a motorcycle accident, broke the joint at the hand and the base of the thumb. I stopped shooting magnum handguns and have to limit use of snappy little pistols. I still have alot of pain depending on how I move it or how pressure is applied. I carried a revolver while injured.

My shooting hand's thumb is fused together with screws and doesn't move at one joint. You'll be fine.
