Thankfully it's not likely to pass this year. God willing it won't pass later.

Re: HB 2216 -- Ban High Capacity Magazines and Conversion Devices
There are more gun owners now than in the past, but our political clout has been diminished. There was a time politicians, especially Republicans, that feared the political backlash from the firearm owning public. For that matter dems in rural areas feared such backlash as well.

Re: HB 2216 -- Ban High Capacity Magazines and Conversion Devices
Why do you think so?
How has "our clout" been diminished?
Cause the Astroturf Brigade got themselves a little rally after a bunch of knuckleheads dropped the ball at Parkland High and the puke ran amok?
In the 1970s there was serious talk of outlawing the ownership of handguns. Five year Federal sentence.
Today the gun control lobby is incoherent. They inspire States to pass horrible legislation - Star Chamber type crap. They want to ban a class of firearms which are almost never used in crime.
A few Federal Court rulings? Anyone remember Quilici vs Illinois? A handgun ban in Illinois?
We're winning, friends, and the gun control lobby is wailing about it.

He has a B rating from the NRA.

He also has voted for laws that authorize Red Light cameras. So much for confronting one's accuser.
He's a mix, like most Politicians.
