Default Carry in Detroit with a PA resident license

I’ll be traveling to Detroit in a few weeks and was wondering if I was legal to carry there. I searched this site and others. What I found was I am legal to concealed carry but I want to confirm. Does anyone know for sure that it’s legal for a PA resident with a PA firearms license to carry in Detroit? I’m worried about city ordinances and the like, that I haven’t found, that could make me a criminal if I carry inside the city limits of Detroit. Any help is much appreciated.

According to my Berks county Sheriffs office map, you are good to go. Laws change so you may want to wait and see a few more answers.

In 1995, the Pennsylvania General Assembly gave the Attorney General the authority to enter into reciprocity agreements with other states.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania currently has formal written reciprocity agreements with 19 states that recognize a valid license to carry firearms issued by Pennsylvania. Conversely, Pennsylvania recognizes valid firearm carry licenses/permits from those states. In addition to the 18 formal agreements, other forms of reciprocity are applicable.

Categories of Firearms Reciprocity – Under Pennsylvania law, there are six categories of firearms reciprocity status.

Category 1: States that have entered into written reciprocity agreements with Pennsylvania. (Title 18 Pa.C.S.A. § 6109(k))

The following states have entered into formal written reciprocity agreements with Pennsylvania under section 6109(k) of the Uniform Firearms Act. These agreements provide for reciprocal recognition of valid licenses/permits issued by both states.

A list of these states and links to their firearms laws is provided below, along with the text of the agreements:

This info is current as of Jan 2018.
Always a good idea to double check for any recent law changes, especially given the current events.

Michigan has automatic recognition of out of state carry permits from a person's home state only.
Michigan gun laws are uniform across the state.
Castle doctrine and stand your ground in public.
    Concealed carry of handguns only.
Duty to notify LEO of concealed carry immediately upon official contact.
You must own the gun you are carrying.
No concealed carry in schools, sports arenas, large entertainment facilities, churches, hospitals, bars, casinos, daycare, universities.
Concealed carry ok in all parking lots except casinos, and except in universities with their own parking lot restrictions.

I’m seeing all the same info. But does anyone know if there is a special designation within the city limits of Detroit that would afford it higher restrictions? Like Philly being a city of the first class in PA.

If you are not going to open carry a handgun or deal with long guns then there is no issue other than what I listed above.

I would just add that as we see in Jersey, there is the law and then the way it's handled by the state.
When you don't know the lay of the land in another state it's always advisable to keep a low profile and avoid trouble areas (good to do that anywhere).
If you are somewhere you shouldn't be and the police find the gun on you the permit won't help you.
You will just get charged with disturbing the peace or some other grey area infraction and you will end up having to defend yourself in court.
I mean no offense by this, but your line of questioning has my radar up.

I think the OP is just playing it safe. Better to ask then find out the hard way. Where do you think the saying, went on vacation came home on probation came from?
