Default Wolf signs "clean slate" law

I haven't had a chance to read it yet, though the write up talks about 'employment'.

Would the sealing of >10 year old convictions also permit firearms purchase?

If the arrest is still visible, Philly will still (try to) use the character clause.

    Just sayin'...

It occurs to me the form still says "have you been convicted of...." no mention of "that we can see" or "that hasn't been sealed"... So I still see a recipe for folks getting prosecuted for 'lying' on the form if something goes awry with the 'sealing' bit.

Sounds like they can hide someone’s record from employers, not for the purpose of firearms.

I would bet a testicle that this is the plan. Also probably includes voting.

Doesn't it say, "have you ever been convicted of , , , ?''

Last year legislation went into effect permitting some to obtain a form of expungement that removed some crimes from the reach of prospective employers if enough time had lapsed since the offense. It looks like this legislation effects those eligible automatically without applying for it.

If the record is sealed how would they know what's in it. Too bad the question is a "yes", "no" question, or you could use the answer that politicitions use "I do not recall".

I believe that it is not sealed to law enforcement eyes.
