    Default NJ, shaming everyone

    https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-...er-on-gun-data

NJ is gonna be shaming you free folks in PA.

"Of the measures, one would require people applying for a gun permit to demonstrate a "justifiable need.""

Really, really hate when people say this. Its impossible as is now, you can't get more impossible.

That requirement is in itself a wonderful illustration of "justifiable need"...

NJ has always had justifiable need for a concealed carry permit.
For each handgun you buy you need to have previously obtained a firearms ID card, then get re-fingerprinted, get two references and pay a fee, then wait six weeks. The form also asks why you want to buy a gun. So they already have the machinery in place for a local cop to decide if he wants to let you buy a gun or not. It was never "shall issue". Once you get the permit to purchase you have 90 days before the permit expires.

Yea the shall issue is a joke.

I just like this new mindset of shaming other states for people breaking the law on NJ.

They will only release such data that does not come back to hit them. For example, a gun that disappeared from police lockup and used in a crime will not be one that they talk about. ALL guns are manufactured outside NJ so tracing back to the origin is not going to prove anything. Despite its "strict" laws, NJ has as much gun crime as anywhere. Like Chicago, they want to make the claim that guns come from outside their strict anti-gun environment so its not their fault that there is gun violence, it PA and VA that are the problem.

Notice that in the photo of the NJ governor, there is a bull-necked NJ state trooper who is armed with a gun, standing next to the governor, ready to protect him with a gun, as the governor talks about shaming gun owners in NJ. the NJ politicians: a gun for me, but none for thee.

I seem to recall an abused wife applied for a permit because her ex-husband threatened to kill her. NJ deliberately buried her application until her EX. killed her.
I couldn't understand why the local authorities weren't sued.

I'm not clicking on an NPR link. That's like spending your cash in NJ.

Bernie Goetz did everything he was supposed to do in NY to try to get his permit, he had already been robbed a couple of times when he applied. He was denied every time because he didn't have the "need" to be armed. So he basically gave up and carried anyway. That need came about again when he was attacked. Sad that a victim of a crime does jail time because of asshole states like NY and NJ.
