VERMONT TO SIGN GUN CONTROL BILLS

Lawmakers in the Green Mountain State passed a pair of gun confiscation measures Thursday, sending them to a Republican governor who is prepared to approve them.

The two bills, S.221 and H.422, would remove guns from those thought to be “at risk” and from those arrested or cited on domestic assault charges. Both proposals passed unanimously in the legislature this week and join a third, S.55, already on Gov. Phil Scott’s desk.

“As I’ve said, I strongly support the second amendment and all Constitutional rights,” said Scott in a statement about the legislation. “I support S.55, S.221, and H.422 because I believe these bills uphold these rights while taking reasonable steps to reduce the risk of violence. . . .”

Aren't they looking to enact a 10 round magazine limit too?

Yes that's in 55. Because, you know, feelings and stuff.

Don't mean shit to most Vermont gun owners. As a former native and being born there I can say the politics of the moment will be brushed aside and life will go on.

Learn from it. I’m sure there were a lot of people in Vermont who two months ago thought that “we don’t have to worry about losing our 2nd rights here”. Now look at where they have gone in under two months.

We are facing similar issues here in Pa. A lot of people are taking the bills and threats seriously. Writing reps, getting involved, sending money to groups to fight on their behalf. But are enough people? Are enough people taking the threats seriously or are many still taking the “we are fine, we haven’t lost any rights yet, others are fighting the fight, I don’t need to do anything” route.

If it can happen in Vermont, it can happen in Pa. And imo every supporter of the 2nd needs to take the threat seriously and step up in some way to protect their rights and not leave everything up to others.

I'm not going to abide by them if it happens here.

As a perp I’ll have more rights than the law abiding.

Vermont Citizens March Against New Gun Laws

    Ecerpt:

"Vermont Governor Phil Scott, a Republican, has pledged to sign three new gun control bills into law this week, all of which would make it harder for people to purchase firearms and make it easier for law enforcement to take guns away from lawful owners. In response to the impending laws, however, pro-gun activists have taken to the streets in South Burlington to tell the governor and the state legislature to take a look at the Second Amendment and then take a hike.

The first bill to hit Scott’s desk this week will make it easier for police to confiscate guns from anyone who is considered a risk to themselves or others. The second will allow law enforcement to take guns away from anyone who has been arrested or cited on domestic violence charges. The third will raise the lawful gun purchasing age to 21 in the state of Vermont and expand background checks. It will also ban bump stocks and high capacity magazines. . . ."
