Hi, I have taken the Insight's Defensive Handgun and Rifle classes at West Shore Sportsman's. They are good classes. Mike W. will probably be the instructor. You should enjoy the class and get alot of information from them.

I took this class a couple years ago from John Holschen. It was well worth the effort. I also took Unarmed Self Defense from them...also well worth it!

Are these types of classes worth the $300?
I think I need to take a class like this, but that's just really expensive for me.

    Yes. Unequivocally.

    Just do it.

Most training is worth the money, the only time I've felt it was money wasted was when I lived in Michigan and the training class was a mandatory 8 hours, and didn't actaully teach anything, cost $150 just for the class, and it was basicly just a standard NRA course.

Spend the money for a good course, better to get some knowledge and increase your skill set than have $300 in the bank, start a budget and save for a class somwehere, just so long as you get some formal training.

That's actually on the lower end for a two day class, so if the instructor is good, it's certainly worth it.

More to the point, if this is your first-ever class, it's DEFINITELY worth it. The value-add to your fighting and shooting ability is never higher than going from 0 to 1 class.

You bet!!! I never regretted it. Right now I'm taking Lethal Force Institute's LFI-1 near Hershey. It's 4 days, 40 hours for $800. While LFI-1 can be used by someone with no formal training, my experience with Insight proved to be a great "starter" course. Take the training...you won't regret it!!

I've taken both the General and Intermediate Defensive Handgun courses - both worth the money. Mike W. and crew (usually one) will get you in fighting shape in two days - better accuracy, economy of motion, speed, etc.

If you've never taken an Insights class and are going to take one, contact me!

Only if you choose to walk about society armed.

If your interest in firearms is casual or recreational in nature, you won't see the value in it.

If your interest is personal protection, yes. If you have a carry permit and carry a gun, its essential.

I've taken several classes with John Holschen instructing. I thought $300 wasn't enough for a class with John.
