Default New Altamont grips on the GP100

The rubber and wood combination grip on my Ruger always felt a little slick so when I saw this checkered set that also features a checkered pattern on the front and back strap I went ahead and got it. I’m surprised at how much better feeling such a simple pattern makes the revolver feel in hand. The Hogue finger groove grip never felt right to me but this one does. What grips do any fellow GP100 owners use and what do you think of them?

I like the look of those grips. They're like the stock grips, but better. I have Altamont grips on my Vaqueros. They make nice stuff.

The family GP100 wears the Hogue finger grips. They're just OK. My dad has a GP100 in .44 spcl that has the finger-less grips from Hogue. I like those a lot more than the grips with the finger grooves.

    Looks comfy.

Adding rubber grips to one of my pistols made a world of difference.

Those look really nice. I am considering a set of their grips for my SBH. Let us know how they hold up.

Thanks, I’ll let you know if I have any problems with them but I can’t imagine any should come up. It turns out it was only a $15 upgrade. These were 50 bucks shipped and I sold the factory set for 35. I wasn’t even 100% sure that they would come with the screw in large pin so I waited until they arrived to sell the factory set. They did include them. It’s irrelevant to me but on the new set the screw threads in from the left side, the originals threaded in from the right, maybe some sort of copyright thing or something.

The new Altamont grips look great. I have the super rosewood with snakeskin checkering on my GP100 3". Just got wood inserts with the Ruger emblem from Chigs Grips and they look great and are functional when shooting. Would post some pics but having trouble uploading to this site.

Nice. I would never guess they are aftermarket. Looks like they were designed for the gun from the start.
