Re: AK-47 7.62 or AR-15 .223. Which Should I Get
It all depends what you plan to do. Is your plan to blow up railroads or shoot down planes?

Re: AK-47 7.62 or AR-15 .223. Which Should I Get
AR's seem to be more temperamental with ammo and need to keep cleaner. The AK will shoot no matter when u last cleaned it if ever. I have prob 5000 rounds thru it and have yet to dissemble and clean it. They shoot no matter what ammo I run thru it . .

Re: AK-47 7.62 or AR-15 .223. Which Should I Get
If COST is the biggest factor, the you are likely best to get an AR15 while they can be had for absurdly low prices.
Back around 2007 I had it in my head that I could get "one or the other" because of cost.
I went with "AK47" because at the time, they could be had for $300.
Times have changed though and NOW AR15 prices are lower than AK47 prices.
Fast forward to the present and I have one AK47 and more AR15s than I can carry.
I've been able to buy them "a piece at a time" over the course of a few months, or a few years, and once I had enough parts, I put each one together. It's one of the benefits of the AR15.
Not really any point going into "why" you should get one or the other. Get both - eventually.
I liked the AK initially because it seems "simpler", but that was mostly based on my own misconception of the AR15 being "too complicated". I still like AK47s, but I much prefer the versatility of the AR15 and the lighter weight.
Don't wreck your brain trying to figure out which is the better choice because they are both solid choices - get what YOU want.

Re: AK-47 7.62 or AR-15 .223. Which Should I Get
Not really.
Keep your Bolt and carrier properly lubed and you can go thousands of rounds between cleaning.
OP
If your on a budget then the AR15 is the better choice. You can get a great rifle for $625.00 or less. The greater majority of $500-650.00 AK’s on the market today are American made pure garbage. You will need to spend $700-1,000 on a good AK unfortunately unless you find a really good deal in a used one.Last edited by Hodgie; March 29th, 2018 at 01:05 PM.

AR-15 in .300 black. More energy than an AK, easier to handle, subsonic loads for home defense, standard loads for anything else. Since it is a .308 bullet(I believe) there are many different loads for many different applications. The round is optimized for an 8 inch barrel, so you can go ahead and SBR it. Also, spend once cry once. If you want just one gun, I suggest either the LWRC, or the POF rifles. They are pretty equal, but I'm partial to the LWRC. My third choice though would be Adams Arms. Adams Arms makes a nice .300 black. They do not have them available at the moment. Just talked with them, and the .300blk will be available again early this summer.

Why not an AK74? You have ak and 5.45 with the 39.
