Default Anyone have to travel to and from NJ on the regular?

I have business I sometimes have to conduct in NJ and sometimes we take our kids to the beach and the Camden aquarium. I always leave the gun at home. Can I legally keep the gun in the car if locked up and empty with separate container for mags while I'm visiting? The part of the law that is tripping me up is where it states " no deviation in your course of travel" I'm not even comprehending what that means. I just want to know if my gun is locked up like it's supposed to be am I good to go and will a 15-17 round mag that's also locked up separate be good to go or do I have to carry low cap mags ? Thanks.

    Where to begin...

No, you cannot legally take your gun with you into NJ regardless of how it is stored unless you meet the narrow definitions for legal transport into NJ or through NJ.

PA police now see your LTCF when they run your license plate.
It has yet to be confirmed, but it is a good bet that NJ has or soon will have access to the same info.
This means they can possibly pull you over and go fishing for a gun.

The only scenario where it would be legal for you to take a gun into NJ is if you had a specific purpose, such as a hunting or shooting event.
If so, you would be wise to have documentation of such event, and you legally can only drive to and from the event with no stopping for anything.

It is also legal to transport a gun from your residence in PA to your residence in NJ assuming you own a beach house or something.
But again it can only be transported to and from with no stopping.

Were you to have a legitimate purpose to take a gun into NJ, you would need to follow all their restrictive laws about magazine capacity and other items.
They are pushing through more gun restrictions so you would need to check an updated list.

Even if you are within the law, NJ has a habit of arresting gun owners and then working out the legalities later.
It is a very bad idea to take a gun into NJ unless you know exactly what you are doing and are willing to take the risk of being arrested.

There are numerous threads on this topic.
It would be a good idea to review them and/or get the info from a gun travel guide publication.

Supposedly they clarified that under LEOSA.
But LEO's are still advised to use Hornady Critical Duty with the plugged cone or FMJ.
In NJ there is no right way, they arrest and then you get to go to court and work out the details.
Always best to error on the side of caution in NJ.

    Yes they can.

OP unless you want to be praying for the new Gov to pardon you and recommend you for pre trial intervention which he promised not to anymore for these types of things NO DO NOT do something as ignorant as taking your pistol to NJ.

If you choose to then you better open your go fund me account now and start E-begging for your defense fund. Camden sucks ass especially the area right outside the aquarium and battleship NJ complex if you do not feel safe there then just dont go.

It sucks but we all have choices.
