I could support a libertarian, but they’re unelectable to POTUS, just like Bernie Sanders on the other side.

Re: and just to think ......
Potentially but right now we haven’t lost any rights. If Hillary had won we’d be getting fucked over. The libertarian movement sounds great until you realize they aren’t going to win any time soon. Since most who vote that way lean more right than left you’re just taking votes away that are needed elsewhere
Being principled gets you nowhere if you lose because of it

Re: and just to think ......
We have no Saviors in this world. We have representatives. Trump talked a good game. Trump got bought.
We still have other options.
I can understand your discouragement. This is the State of mind that the elites want all of us to have, to give up, to quit. Elites rig the political game, but the political game is not the only game. There is also the economic game, property and economic power.
There are over 100,000,000 gun owners. In most nations of the world they would be criminals. Here they are tolerated because there too many of them, because they have economic power and because they vote. Gun owners matter.
We have the NRA. The NRA is not perfect, sometimes it's pretty bad. We have other gun rights organizations that threaten the supremacy of the NRA. The GOA and other allied organizations helps keep the NRA honest, as honest as possible.
You are angry at the NRA about national reciprocity? What happened last year - the Los Vegas mass shootings. Why did they happen? The FBI still doesn't know. This suggests that it was a terrorist blow back, revenge for the US operations in the Middle East. The Pulse Nightclub shooting was revenge for Drone strikes. The shooter said so to the Orlando PD.
If terrorists are shooting us why is that the NRA's fault? Still, how can the NRA get this kind of good law, National Reciprocity, through a Congress that is afraid of public backlash? If we cannot give the NRA a good Congress how can they do their job for us? If we do not support the NRA and other organizations, if we do not vote, if we do not take people to the range, how can we make a change?
We can fight. We can make these organizations work for us.
Look at this piece of work....
Communism failed everywhere it was tried. Cuba is a socialist shit hole. She believes. She believes enough to taint her message by wearing an Army shirt with the Cuban flag on her right sleeve. Most people don't take communism seriously in this country. She believes any how. If she can believe in a loser ideology like Communism why can't we believe in our rights, which are very real and very effective? Communism is dead, we are alive.
Today's kids wouldn't last a week in a Socialist nation. Kids don't run around with Smart Phones in Cuba and North Korea. They work for peanuts, pay huge prices for food and yearn to be free. These kids who agree with opinion polls don't know what they're talking about so why bother with them? Millennials have horrible voting percentages.
We are vastly more powerful than her kind. We can fight. We can win.
We need to enlist our professional representatives. We need to vote.
We need to take people to the range, take them hunting, take them shooting. So that they know the truth of things.Last edited by GeneCC; March 25th, 2018 at 10:49 AM.

Re: and just to think ......
Voting for Libertarian is better than staying home. Over sixty million registered voters didn't pick a President in 2016. "Nobody for President" got more popular votes than Trump.
If the Libertarians had picked a sober candidate and that candidate had received even ten million popular votes the Establishment would have noticed. Gov. Johnson got forty percent of that much, which is amazing considering how poorly he came across and how well Weld sabotaged their campaign.
I supported Saccone. I gave him money. I did not know that the Libertarians had a candidate, one that received 1,000 votes. Saccone lost by 1,000 votes. Nope, I ain't going there.... the Libertarian did not cost Sacconne his seat.
A lot more folks stayed home than voted in District 18. According to the NYT, it's 230,000 people who bothered to vote. (see https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...-election.html ). According to Wikipedia the 18th district had a population of about 700,000 people in 2000. Assuming that three quarters of them were eligible voters, which is probably accurate, we're talking 525,000 voters. Which means about fifty six percent of probable voters stayed home.
If ten percent of the half who stayed home had voted Libertarian this would have at least gotten some attention at GOP headquarters. The Democrats would have realized that gun control was a foolish idea.
We have to get those quitters a reason to vote. Here is one - take them to the range so that they have something to lose. A new hobby, a sense of empowerment, a sense of dignity and worth. Cause now they can defend themselves.
